The Longest Total Solar Eclipse of the 21st century

A long wait by sky gazers to look at a rare celestial event will end tomorrow when the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century will be seen.In Bangalore, the eclipse will begin at 5.38 am and will commence even before sunrise, reach its maximum at 6.21 am and end at 7.17 am.

Solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is fully or partially covered. Solar eclipse is  natural celestial event

  • Avoid looking sun with naked eye: Don’t look at the Sun with naked eyes during the eclipse as during the transition period it may burn the retina and one may lose eyesight
  • Welding Glass: Welding glass is safe to view sun during eclipse. Don’t use binocluars or sunglass to look at the sun.
  • Do not eat: Do not eat any foods or drink water during solar eclipse, having food or drinking water or other liquid items during solar eclipse is bad fo health.

Safest method is to project Sun’s image on wall with a pinhole camera and look at it on the wall. Take precaution steps to avoid accident or contact direct sunlight during solar eclipse. Adopt safe methods and enjoy the beauty of the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century
