Nightingales Medical Trust to Prevent abuse of the elderly

To mark the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15, Nightingales Medical Trust (NMT) will be organizing a street show and an awareness walk in the city. Nightingales Medical Trust (NMT) is a Non Government Organization (NGO) dedicated to elder-care.

Helping elders lead a physically, emotionally and socially fulfilling life by providing quality health-care, family-based support systems and by combating abuse is the mission of NMT. Nightingales is striving to keep family bonds intact through various innovative, family-based support systems for elders of different socio-economic groups. Some of Nightingales’ projects have emerged as models and are being replicated in other parts of the country. In the city of Bangalore, the estimated number of Dementia patients is 30,000. Compared to developed countries India is very much lagging behind in awareness about Dementia and in appropriate care facilities. Nightingales Medical Trust (NMT)

While the traditional joint family system is fast disintegrating in India, Nightingales is striving to keep family bonds intact through various innovative, family-based support systems for elders. To mark the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15, Nightingales Medical Trust (NMT) will be organizing a street show and an awareness walk in the city. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pravin Sood will flag off the street show as well as the walk at Lalbagh Gate facing K.H. Road at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday.
