Grand Finale of Ranga rang – The Rangoli Utsava was held at DVG Road Basavanagudi, on 19th September’10 Sunday. Around 100 women displayed unique designs on the road which was closed for the public from 8 am to 10 am.
The final winners have been selected by a jury consisting of eminent personalities viz., Dr. Kulkarni (Principal of Chitrakala Parishat), B K S Verma (Artist of high repute), Mano Murthy (Music Director) and Rajesh Krishna (Popular Singer). The playback singer Sonu Niigaam distributed prizes at the end of the competition. Post-completion, the road was opened only for pedestrians.
The rangoli utsava was organized as an attempt to revive the fading art form by Shree Vidyraranya Yuvaka Sangha as part of Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava 2010-Rangarang. The preliminary round was held at APS College Grounds, Basvangudi on 8 August 2010 and over 1500 women will participate and displayed their rangoli skills. The best 100 was chosen to participate in the Grand Finale round. The grand finale was held at DVG Road on September 19th.
