10 Tips for Safe Diwali

Exercise caution while bursting firecrackers during Diwali and avoid grievous injuries. Following 10 tips helps you to celebrate Safe Diwali.

  • Purchase of firecrackers only from authorised manufacturers.

  • The firecrackers should be stored in cardboard boxes and kept out of reach from children.

  • They should be kept away from inflammable substances like gas cylinders, they said.

  • Keep a bucket of water and in case of burns, pour lots of water on the affected area

  • Avoid lighting crackers inside a container like glass bottle,tin or between debris.

  • Avoid lighting crackers holding in hand and lighting by bending over them.

  • Apply Cream, ointment, oil on burnt area.

  • Never experiment, modify, or attempt to make your own fireworks.

  • Warn neighbors so that they can keep pets indoors.

  • In case of ear trauma, it is advisable not to instill any eardrop, nor try to clean the ear by oneself or by untrained personnel.

The physicians have recommended in case of major burns, before rushing to hospital, victim should be first wrapped in a clean bed sheet.If eye is affected, the victim’s eyes should be washed under tap water for 10 minutes before going to hospital. While bursting crackers on the road, vehicles should be parked at a safe distance.
