Karnataka election 2018- How to cast your vote?

Karnataka election 2018 date is announced for May 12, 2018 in all 224 constituencies of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes and result announcement will take place on 15 May 2018. To cast your vote it is essential that voters follow the steps enlisted by the Election Commission of India.

Eligible citizens

To cast your vote, you must be eligible citizens like 18 years or above and a resident of the state that is going to polls. Persons
who are of unsound mind or disqualified due to ‘Corrupt Practices’ or offences relating to elections are not entitled to be registered in the electoral rolls.

What is a Electoral roll?

It is an official list of the people who are entitled to vote in an election. To cast your vote in an election, your name must be in the voters list. For every constituency, there is a list of voters. The electoral rolls are prepared Assembly Constituency wise. To cast your vote, the first and foremost requirement is that your name should be in the electoral roll. Therefore, it is your duty to find out whether your name has been registered and included in the Electoral roll. If you are not registered then you can file claim in Form No. 6 for inclusion of your
name in the electoral roll.

  • Form-6(Inclusion): for inclusion of his name in the roll
  • Form-6A(Inclusion-Overseas): Inclusion of Name in Electoral Roll by an Overseas Elector
  • Form-7(Deletion): for deletion of his or any other person’s name
  • Form-8(Modification): for change of address if new address in same polling area
  • Form-8A (Transposition): for change of address if new address in another polling area

How can I enrol for Karnataka election 2018

To enrol your name in electoral roll, you need to register yourself. You can register online for adding your name in voters list.

Creating the account

  • Visit the website voterreg.kar.nic.in
  • Click Register
  • Create an Account
  • After creating your account your password will be communicated via e-mail and SMS.

Log in

  • Visit the website voterreg.kar.nic.in
  • Log in with your Userid (Userid will be your e-mail) and password to submit your applications.
  • Be sure to print the acknowledgement that you receive upon submission.
  • Submit the print out to your nearest Election Registration Office.
