Save our tiger-Social campaign launched by Aircel

Aircel “Save Our Tiger” is the latest campaign where it intends to draw attention towards dwindling numbers of tigers across the planet and bring forward the seriousness of losing tigers from our planet. It has also created a platform where people can donate money to NGOs working relentlessly for the cause. Aircel is one of leading mobile phone service providers in India.

Apart from TV and print advertising it has launched a website http://www.saveourtigers.com which will be instrumental in propagating and disseminating information about saving tiger. It urges people to be informed and create buzz across all forums like blogging, writing on facebook, twitter and writing letters to the editors of newspapers.

Tiger, the national animal of India,is on the verge of extinction and if serious efforts are not undertaken Tigers will only reside in our history books. From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India.

    • FIRST OF ALL I AM GOT VERY SAD TO LISTEN THIS SHOCKING NEWS IN TV ; I REALLY HURT SO MUCH, BECAUSE TIGER IS THE NATIONAL ANIMAL OF INDIA BUT, WE ARE NOT CARING ABOUT IT. ANOTHER THING IS THAT THEY ARE THE VERY NICE ANIMAL IN NATURE & NATURE ALSO NEED IT. SO FOR SAVING NATURE & WATCHING TIGERS IN FEATURE IN INDIA WE MUST SAVE TIGERS. I REALLY LOVE TO TIGER & EACH ANIMAL IN THE WORLD..

  3. My son, Abhinav studying in V std in Avalon Heights, Vashi is very upset at the news of receding his favourite tiger population and wrote the following poem which surprised me
Where are the tigers… Humans have killed them all..
They are not extinct still… wake up world..dont sleep.. we have a important role
We need to save our National animal.. still time is left…
Wake up world… we have a important role…

    • Dear Saritha,
That is really a very mature thought, coming from a 10yr old. It seems our kids are more aware of the danger the tiger faces than us.I hope many more people become aware and join in support of the fight to save our National Animal.

    • dear abhinav,
the bengal tiger is just a symbol. it is a representative of all the other endangered animals in this world like the Sumatran Orangutan (Indonesia), Sumatran Tiger (Indonesia), Lear’s Macaw (Brazil), Brown Spider Monkey (Colombia, Venezuela),Rancho Grande Harlequin Frog (Venezuela),Panamanian Golden Frog (Panama),Pygmy Three-toed Sloth (Panama),Yellow-crested Cockatoo (Indonesia),Golden-bellied Capuchin (Brazil),Elegant Frog (Australia),Orinoco Crocodile (Colombia, Venezuela),Mountain Gorilla (Rwanda, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo),Golden Mantella (Madagascar),Eastern Red Colobus (Kenya),Javan Rhinoceros (Indonesia, Vietnam),Bonobo (Democratic Republic of Congo),Bornean Orangutan (Indonesia, Malaysia),Common Chimpanzee (Eastern and Central Africa),Golden Poison Frog (Colombia),Hyacinth Macaw (South America),Great Green Macaw (Central America),Maned Three-toed Sloth (Brazil),Diana Monkey (West Africa),Indian Wild Dog (Dhole) (South Asia),Aye-Aye (Madagascar),Indian Elephant (India and South East Asia),Golden Lion Tamarin (Brazil),Red Slender Loris (Sri Lanka),Proboscis Monkey (Indonesia),Javan Langur (Indonesia),
Diademed Sifaka (Madagascar),Mahogany Glider (Australia),Giant Otter (South America),Mountain Tapir and Baird’s Tapir (South America),Blue Poison Frog (Surinam),Giant Armadillo (South America),Jaguar (Central and South America),Harpy Eagle (Central and South America)
young children like you should spearhead the campaign to ensure that young ones of the animals listed above and others we dont know about have a safe and secure tomorrow. go forth and tell ten friends and ten strangers not to be cruel to animals. they were here much before we arrived on the scene and now we have not only usurped their earth but also upstaged them from the planet. shame on man.

  4. there are only 1411 royal bengal tiger left in the jungle first there were 180000 royal bengal tiger and they are now remain in some part of india and southeast counteries if hunting is not stop for bones and flesh of tiger then we would not be able to see royal bengal tiger again i want to work to save tiger

  5. i wont say lie, tht i loved lion much more thn tiger but whn i came to hear tht our country’s national animal tht is tigers population has came to 1411 i was really shocked n changed my feelings about tigers. nw i feel guilty why i hated tigers bt i wana correct my mistakes by transferring the message to all the indians through ths blog to care about tigers n save them so tht our national animal could glorify the india.
